Faith and Financial Planning: How to Dream Big and Stay Anchored
Trusting God while taking steps towarda meaningful financial future
Setting financial goals is a wise andnecessary part of stewarding what God has given us. Whether you're planning fora home, preparing for your child’s education, saving for retirement, or simplydreaming about greater generosity, long-term planning can reflect deep faith. But as you begin to look ahead, it’s easy to fall into two extremes. On oneside is fear, afraid to plan too far ahead in case something goes wrong. On theother is striving, placing so much hope in your goals that you lose sight of whoreally holds your future.
Scripture invites us to live in thebalance of both diligence and dependence. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to theLord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” This doesn’t mean wesit back and wait for things to happen. It also doesn’t mean we map everythingout without Him. It means we bring our goals to God in prayer, trust Him withthe outcomes, and take the next wise step forward.
Financial planning is one way to walk outthis kind of faith. When we prayerfully set goals, create a strategy, and buildhabits that reflect our values, we’re choosing to trust that God is not onlyour Provider today but also our Guide for tomorrow. We don’t have to choosebetween faith and foresight. We can live with both.
Jeremiah 29:11 offers a powerful reminderfor dreamers and planners alike: “For I know the plans I have for you,”declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give youhope and a future.” This verse isn’t a promise of perfection or a shortcut to wealth. It’s an assurance that God is intentional about your future. When we make spaceto plan with Him, we begin to see our finances through the lens of purpose, notpressure.
As you think about your long-term goals, start with prayer. Ask God to reveal the vision He has for your finances notjust what you want to achieve, but what He wants to accomplish through you.Dream big, but stay open. Let your financial goals reflect the life you believeGod is calling you to live, not just the life others expect from you.
Then take time to create a plan thataligns with that vision. That might include setting up a savings strategy, creating a giving goal, reducing debt, or learning how to invest wisely.Whatever your next step is, take it with confidence, knowing you’re not movingalone. God walks with you in every spreadsheet, every budget meeting, and everyquiet moment of doubt or decision.
At StewardWise, we believe financialplanning is more than a numbers game. It’s a spiritual practice. It’s a chanceto move with intentionality, generosity, and peace. As you dream about your financial future, stay rooted in the truth that God’s plans are good. When you plan with God,you can hold your goals with open hands, confident that whether they’refulfilled in the way you expect or not, your future is secure in Him.
